Mowafeq AI Agent: cited answers across your project documents

AEC projects run on documents. Thousands of them — specs, drawings, transmittals, RFIs, submittals, schedules — and they multiply with every revision and every consultant who joins the project. The answers your team needs are in those documents. Finding them isn't.

Every project has the moment. Someone needs to know what the spec says, what the drawing shows, what the consultant approved last month. The information exists. Pulling it out takes hours. So the answer becomes "I'll get back to you tomorrow" — and the project pays for it. Hours add up to days, days to disputes, and disputes to the kind of friction that costs more than any document-management tool ever saved.

We built Mowafeq AI to fix that.

What it is

Mowafeq AI is an agent that answers questions about your project documents. Specs, drawings, transmittals, RFIs, schedules, submittals — anything that lives as a PDF in your project folders. You ask a question in plain English (or Arabic). You get an answer in a few seconds. Every claim in the answer is cited back to a specific page in a specific source document. Click the citation, and the original PDF opens to the exact page.

That last part is the whole point.

Show your work

The biggest reason most AEC teams have stayed away from generative AI isn't that it can't write — it's that it can't be trusted. A general-purpose chatbot will produce a confident answer about your spec that's invented out of thin air. On a construction project, that's not a productivity tool. That's a liability.

Mowafeq AI is built on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Before it answers anything, it retrieves the most relevant passages from your project documents using a hybrid full-text + vector search, then composes a response that cites those passages directly. If a passage doesn't exist to support a claim, the agent won't make the claim. The result is an answer that's both fluent and verifiable — every sentence comes with a receipt.

Under the hood:

  • Section-aware chunking so the agent understands document structure (a spec section, a drawing sheet, an RFI thread) and can cite at the right granularity
  • Hybrid FTS + pgvector retrieval so a query for "concrete cure time" finds the right passage whether it's a verbatim phrase match or a semantic neighbour
  • Source-PDF-as-truth — the agent never edits a document, only points to it. Your originals stay your originals.

Same brain, same source of truth

On an AEC project, the consultant, contractor, and owner often work from slightly different copies of the same documents — different revisions, different annotated versions, different folders. Disputes start when those copies disagree.

Mowafeq AI is designed to be the neutral source of truth. The consultant asks "what was the cure-time requirement on PC-15?" and gets the answer pinned to spec section 4.3.2 of revision C, page 47. The contractor asks the same question the next day and gets the same answer pinned to the same page. The owner reviewing the claim a month later sees the same citation.

There's nothing to argue about.

That's not just an efficiency gain. That's a different kind of project.

Who it's for

Mowafeq AI is built for everyone on a construction project who has to live with the documents:

  • Design consultants drafting RFI responses, looking up clauses, defending interpretations
  • Construction supervision consultants running daily document control and reviewing submittals
  • Main contractors and subcontractors under deadline, defending against scope creep, preparing claims
  • Owners and developers verifying contractor claims, maintaining audit trails, reviewing progress

If you've ever had to find one paragraph in a 400-page spec at 6pm on a Thursday, this is built for you.

What's next

This is the start. We're working on:

  • Multi-project search — ask across every project you've ever delivered, not just the active one
  • Drawing-aware retrieval — citations that point not just to a page, but to a region on a drawing sheet
  • Transmittal and submittal automation — Mowafeq AI as the agent that drafts, routes, and tracks
  • Arabic-native document understanding — because AEC in this region is bilingual by default

Mowafeq · موافق · "approved." The word that signs off every drawing, every transmittal, every RFI on your project. Now it's also the agent that helps you find anything across them.
